HISTORY OF OUR ORGAN

History of organ - Did you know… that for several years CRLC did not have a pipe organ? Our first service in our original building (on this site) was Palm Sunday, April 1990. The sanctuary piano was the primary musical instrument for leading our worship services until a friend of our congregation and organ builder, Bill Ellenberger, informed us that he gathered “pieces & parts” from various organ projects, with the idea of putting together a small organ. As many of you know, CRLC rented space from the UCC in Brecksville for many years and enjoyed the organ there…a very large, very full sounding pipe organ with lot of “bells and whistles.” Bill felt that Lutherans really appreciated pipe organ music since our liturgies are full of singing and he was right…we do!!! An organ fund was established and many members contributed to the purchase of our instrument. Aluminum cans were collected and there was even a suggestion to build the pipes out of them!! The current pipe organ was complete in spring of 1994.
